Thailand Part 1: Bangkok & Chiang Mai | Pink Wings
We're on day 4 in Thailand and having some fun.

My favorite highlights:

-visiting the Damnoen Saduak floating market. Some reviewers say it is too touristy but we don't buy that, we loved it. Took a ride on one of the boats, ate lots of yummy fruit, and the boys introduced me to mangosteen, nom!

-the boys wanted massages while shopping in Bangkok, so while they did that I got eyelash extensions for an awesome price. Life saver! It's so hot and humid that I can't possibly wear makeup, so the eyelash extensions keep me somewhat presentable.

-Elephant-riding in Chiang Mai at Ran-Tong Elephant Training. This place has amazing reviews and was recommended by some friends as well as our hostel which said they've never had anyone dislike it. It was tons of fun; the workers were awesome and they seem to treat the elephants extremely well here. We got friendly with our elephants by feeding them, did a couple of short rides all bareback, yummy Thai lunch in between, and at the end got to swim with them! It was too cool.

  3. I have always wanted to go to Thailand but had to move to the US before I could (I grew up in the Philippines)! Great pictures and I am a little jealous about that elephant ride. Haha :) That thing about eyelash extensions, my cousin did the exact same thing when she went to Manila last December. ;)

    1. Yes, I would recommend that place a million times. Some travelers we met said that they don't support elephants in "captivity" but I don't really get that because at this camp they are not wild elephants, they were rescued from cages, and they seem to treat/spoil the elephants as much as I do my own fur babies. Some places, though, yes they use chains, whips and seats that are bad for the elephants' spines so be careful of those when you get the chance to go!

  19. Oh you got to swim with them too?! Awesome! Good to know about their welfare as well. I am always doing research before we spend time with animals anywhere we travel. I want to make sure the animals are safe and wild or rescued. :) XO -Alexandra

    1. Yeah it was really cool. Although you have to be careful to get out of their way because I got a bruise on my shin from my elephant's foot. And yeah I obvi don't know what goes on after hours but from what I've seen and heard from the day that we spent there, the elephants looked pretty happy <3
